Our guide to Hounslow explains everything you need to know about the area and why you should buy or rent a property in Hounslow.
Hounslow is the principal town in the borough of Hounslow and was historically a place for travellers to rest as they made their way to central London. It now forms an economic hub within the borough and with further development to come, it’s certainly a place to watch…
Regeneration in Hounslow
Hounslow has become the focus of regeneration largely thanks to its proximity to Heathrow and the airport’s expected growth, with £3.7 million now being invested in the area.
An ambitious plan has been formed to transform Hounslow town centre by 2021. Central to this project is the Hounslow High Street Quarter scheme, which sees Hounslow council partnering with Barratt London and Wilson Bowden Developments to create 525 homes and over 134,000 sq ft of commercial space. This is expected to be completed in the late summer of 2020.
Throughout the borough, neighbouring areas are also undergoing regeneration plans, including Chiswick, Brentford, and Feltham.
Hounslow’s transport links
Part of Hounslow’s appeal stems from how well connected the area is. Hounslow Rail Station provides access to South West Trains for transport links to London Waterloo, while Hounslow West, Hounslow Central and Hounslow East underground stations are all served by the Piccadilly line.
Elsewhere in the borough, the District Line and London Overground run through Chiswick, providing fast connections into central London.

- Hounslow urban farm – Set over 29 acres, this is one of London’s largest community farms and comes with pigs, alpacas, peacocks and more.

Properties in Hounslow
Offering a diverse property portfolio, Hounslow attracts a variety of different buyers and tenants. Modern apartment blocks have become more commonplace, such as the Blenheim Centre which is set right in the town centre. However there are still a number of period houses, 1930s properties and purpose-built developments.
The comparative affordability of buying or renting a property further out of London, combined with the fantastic transport links available, means that Hounslow appeals to professionals looking to commute further into London but get more for their money. Families are also drawn to the area by the ability to get larger houses for their budget, as well as the expansive parkland available.
