Their idyllic lives on the Riverbank are turned upside down when Toad announces his latest in a long line of extravagant obsessions: a gypsy caravan. Generous Toad. Exciting Toad. The Riverbankers console themselves with the fact that he cannot possibly get any worse - until, bewitched by the roar of a motor-car and the screech of burning tyres, he does. The other animals resolve to save him from himself but can they teach him even a jot of restraint AND help him evict the opportunistic stoats and weasels who have taken over his ancestral pile? Starlight is excited to be performing the classic musical Annie. This beloved musical that tells the heartwarming story of a spirited young orphan named Annie who dreams of a better life beyond the confines of the orphanage. Set during the Great Depression, the musical captures Annie's adventures as she is selected to spend a week with the wealthy Oliver Warbucks, who is initially gruff but gradually warms up to her infectious optimism. Through memorable songs like "Tomorrow" and "Its a Hard Knock Life," "Annie" explores themes of hope, resilience, and the search for family, ultimately reminding audiences of the power of love and friendship amidst adversity. Join The Lord Chamberlains Men this summer, in their 21st year, for Shakespeares greatest romantic comedy, Twelfth Night. With a history stretching back to William Shakespeares original company, they present this joyous play as he first saw it in the open air, with an all male cast and Elizabethan costumes, music and dance. If music be the food of love play on! Orsino, Duke of Illyria, is desperately in love with Countess Olivia. But she, in mourning for her brother, has sworn off all men. Suddenly Viola, separated from her twin brother in a shipwreck and now disguised as a man, enters Orsinos court as his servant and turns everyones world upside down. Sent to woo Olivia on Orsinos behalf, Viola is stunned to find herself the object of Olivias affections and, as Olivia falls in love with Viola, so Viola falls in love with Orsino. Add Violas twin brother Sebastian into the mix and the scene is set! O time, thou must untangle this, not I. It is too hard a knot for me to untie. Romantic confusion, mistaken identity, infamous cross-gartered yellow stockings and riotous disorder abounds in Shakespeares hilarious and lyrical romantic comedy about love, its many and glorious facets, and the mess it can make of us all. Bird in the Belly are a Brighton-based folk group consisting of folk duo Hickory Signals (Laura Ward and Adam Ronchetti), alt-folk singer-songwriter Ben Webb (Jinnwoo, Green Ribbons) and multi-instrumentalist and producer Tom Pryor. Together they collect little-known and forgotten lyrics, poems and stories from around the UK and set them to their own hypnotically original compositions (fRoots). Their sound is raw and bare-boned with distinctively contemporary and earthy vocalising (R2 Magazine), harking back to the 1960's folk revival sound. Bird in the Belly's 2018 debut album, The Crowing, was met with critical acclaim, with the Sunday Express giving the album 5/5 and calling it folk album of the year. Neighbours and Sisters followed in 2019, and the group have toured the UK extensively, playing at festivals including Moseley, Purbeck, Warwick, Gate to Southwell, Sidmouth and Broadstairs Folk Week. They have been featured regularly on radio including Desert Island Discs and BBC Six Music. Third album, After the City, was released in 2022, with The Guardian and The Observer calling it an album of well realised ambition. In January 2025, Bird in the Belly were featured in the Folk On Foot podcast, and a new album is planned for release in September. And if all that isn't enough to convince you of their folk credentials, one of their songs uses the word "pantaloons".

Most importantly our events are all about you… the parents! (But don’t worry – we also take great care of our younger guests.) We provide soft flooring, buggy parking and baby changing, so that your baby is happy and you can relax. The bar is fully stocked, whether you fancy a cuppa or even something a bit stronger. If you need to whip out a bum (the baby’s please!) a boob or a bottle please feel free… and our comics won’t mind being heckled by our younger guests!
