Yashb Gunasekar on Piano, ft. Saniya Jaiwant and Durga Rao. (Live piano and dance performance). This performance brings in a third space where Indian and Western classical influences intertwine, not just in sound but through movement and art. Showcasing newly commissioned solo piano works by Indian composers, this concert highlights a rarely explored facet of contemporary Indian music: the fusion of Indian classical ragas with the bold harmonic language and abstract forms of 20th-century Western modernism. Each piece reflects a unique dialogue between these worlds, embracing both structure and spontaneity. Rather than blending styles into a single uniform sound, the music preserves the distinct qualities of each influence, allowing them to interact in unexpected ways. With dance and visual art bringing these narratives to life, the performance creates a vibrant, immersive exchange of sound and movementone that transcends borders and redefines artistic identity and transformation. Smoke effects, strobe and flashing lights/projected images may be used. This is an In Person live performance taking place on the Middlesex University Hendon campus. Filming, photography, and audio recording during this event is not permitted. Parking is not available on site for this event! Seating is unallocated. The house will open shortly before the start of the show. There are no cloakroom facilities available. The main auditorium and stage are mechanically ventilated. Tickets are free. New Horizons - A Performance Symposium provides an opportunity for Dance students in their final year of the BA Dance programmes at Middlesex to come together and showcase their performance work. The programme for 2025 includes new work and restaged work by Sin Hopkins and Leroy Dias Dos Santos, as well as 6 new choreographic works by 3rd year graduating students. You are booking for Programme 2 - If you wish to see all 6 chreographic works by the 3rd year graduating students, please book for Programme 1. Programme 1: (Choreographic showcase) Thursday 3rd & Friday 4th April | 7pm This listing - Programme 2: (Performance works + 2 choreographic works per evening). Wednesday 9th, Thursday 10th, Friday 11th April | 7pm This is an In Person live performance taking place on the Middlesex University Hendon campus. May include promenade performances or audience participation, occasionally with standing room only - patrons may be required to remove outdoor footwear for certain pieces. Limited cabaret seating is available for one piece in Friday's programme only - first come first served. Smoke effects, flashing lights and images, and loud music, is likely to be used. Swearing and adult themes may occur. Filming, recording, and photography, of the shown works is not permitted. The venue will open 30min before the start of the performance. Seating is unallocated. A simple bedtime story swirls into a surreal tale of four flawed souls stuck in purgatory—a celestial bathroom—in this irreverent yet warmhearted new musical with songs by German pop-rock star Tobias Künzel (Die Prinzen) and Mark Underwood. With four new arrivals but only three spots in the afterlife, St. Peter is barely keeping his head above water. As each soul pleads their case for a second chance on Earth, ‘help’ arrives in the form of (puppet) Elvis and, you guessed it, (puppet) former leader of the German Democratic Republic, Erich Honecker. With hints of Avenue Q, this toe-tapping romp through the absurdity of bureaucracy, the search for meaning in utter chaos, and the hope that even the most flawed among us can find redemption promises to be anything but bog-standard.
