In this laugh-out-loud comedy, a fading Hollywood actor, desperate to save his career, agrees to star in aproduction ofKing Lear. Believing he will be playing alongside the RSC in the birthplace of Shakespeare himself, he discovers that he will actually be performing in the Suffolk village of Stratford St John with an amateur dramatics group that is well, very amateur. Cue egos, chaos, and plenty of Shakespearean shenanigans as they try to put on the play of a lifetime!

Written by Jonathan Ainscough, composed by Michael Betteridge and directed by Victoria Briggs, The Vanishing Forest is the third and final installment in English Touring Opera’s climate change trilogy, preceded by ‘The Wish Gatherer’ (Best Opera at YAMAwards 2024) and ‘The Great Stink’.
