FLO Vortex is London's leading Spoken Word event. The brain child of world renowned poet and multi platinumn recording artist, Natalie 'Floacist' Stewart (Floetry) aka Flo, The Vortex first opened in 2014 and has since hosted hundreds of poets, from first timers to long timers, from rookies to veterans. To "enter the Vortex and share your FLO" is a staple as a UK poet and has become a part of the spoken word bucket list for poets worldwide. FLO Vortex has created a community within the spoken word community, where the lovers of performance poetry, both audience and poets alike, come together to experience a spoken word event like no other. Hosted by Flo herself, FLO Vortex is about to open for you! A night of spoken word, not to be missed!

Virtuoso keyboardist James McVinnie plays from J S Bach’s extraordinary works for keyboards, as part of Back to Bach. Continuing Bold Tendencies’ cross season celebration of Baroque polymath J S Bach, we focus here on the Italian Concerto and French Overture - written by Bach as a pair, set in F major and B minor (the most distant keys to one another); showing his chameleon-like approach to the assimilation of different national styles of composition into his own inimitable writing. In the Italian Concerto the keyboard is the whole orchestra. Intricate passages are passed between imagined soloists and tutti-a tour-de-force riot for the fingers. The French Overture is a collection of dances book-ended with a grand Overture and unique Echo movement. Bach moulds and remoulds the same musical material again and again into each different dance movement, which make up the work as a whole. The Concerto and Overture are interspersed by pieces from one of the most important works in music history - The Well-Tempered Clavier. Composed in the early 1720s, this 48 piece collection spanning all 24 major and minor keys was written by Bach “For the profit and use of the studious musical youth”; they are at once delightfully imaginative, and triumphs of musical geometry. Exiles: Creativity in a World That Isnt Home As Christian creatives, we can often feel like exilespresent in the world but not entirely at home in it. Whether working in faith-based or secular spaces, the tension between creativity and conviction can be challenging. How do we remain faithful while engaging culture? How do we thrive as artists while staying true to our calling? The More than the Art Conference is about embracing this tension, reclaiming what it truly means to be a Christian artist. Well explore the lives of biblical exiles like Daniel and Ezekiel, uncovering how they remained faithful and thrived in challenging environments. Their stories will inspire us to create with excellence and integrity, no matter where we are placedeven in the most difficult circumstances. Join us for a day of talks, panel discussions, and roundtable conversations designed to equip, encourage, and connect Christian creatives navigating their artistic calling in todays world. The WORD is ART: Liliane Lijn - moonmeme 11 May - 7 June MOCA London Exhibition Space Opening Event: 11 May 2pm - 4pm MOCA London is proud to host a virtual reality version of Liliane Lijn’s ongoing project moonmeme. Moca’s director Michael Petry documented moonmeme in his Thames & Hudson book - The WORD is Art. Petry and Lijn both worked with Eric Prince, founder of ART[XR], to create this virtual version which will be shown for the first time at MOCA London in May 2025. In this virtual reality version visitors will don a pair of special visors that will allow them to see the moon shining over a body of water. The experience is quite unnerving, and the virtual space seems immense. The moon looks so real you feel you can reach out and touch it. Lijn's original concept in 1991 was to project the word SHE across the entire lunar surface as seen from Earth and allow the movements of Sun, Earth and Moon to alter the word and its meaning. Lijn developed moonmeme into a virtual work consisting of a computer program working in real time to project the word ‘SHE ’on to an image of the lunar surface. The image updates every 26 hours and 13 minutes, as the program tracks the real moon’s phase, and is accompanied by a soundtrack of Lijn chanting variations of ‘she ’and ancient lunar texts, in homage to cross-cultural beliefs that the moon is feminine. Over the course of a lunar month, as the moon moves through its different phases, the word 'SHE' becomes 'HE'and then re-emerges. moonmeme presented as an installation or on a monitor has been widely exhibited and is available in an edition of 25 from Silvia Kouvali London/Piraeus. In this version, viewers are 'invited to type in their name and birthdate. On doing this, they see the lunar image with “SHE” or “HE” projected upon its surface, as it was at the time of their birth… From seeing oneself as a unique cosmic phenomenon, the self is viewed as a small part of a much larger pattern.' Liliane Lijn's solo museum exhibition, previously at Haus der Kunst in Munich and mumok in Vienna, will tour to Tate St. Ives, opening on the 23rd of May.
