The Marquee All star band play a musical tribute to the iconic world-famous marquee club. The Marquee club became the spiritual home to so much musical talent, the likes of The Rolling Stones, The Who, Jimi Hendrix, Cream and Led Zeppelin, The Faces , Deep Purple , Black Sabbath, AC/DC , Rod Stewart, David Bowie and a wealth of different artist and bands from all genres of music around the world who played and applied their trade at this legendary venue. Marquee Nites bring the sounds of the iconic venue back to life, celebrating the rich musical heritage of the original London club. They channel the spirit of classic rock and pop, delivering a high energy performance with A list musicians that evoke the magic of the 60s & 70s. Join The Lord Chamberlains Men this summer, in their 21st year, for Shakespeares greatest romantic comedy, Twelfth Night. With a history stretching back to William Shakespeares original company, they present this joyous play as he first saw it in the open air, with an all male cast and Elizabethan costumes, music and dance. If music be the food of love play on! Orsino, Duke of Illyria, is desperately in love with Countess Olivia. But she, in mourning for her brother, has sworn off all men. Suddenly Viola, separated from her twin brother in a shipwreck and now disguised as a man, enters Orsinos court as his servant and turns everyones world upside down. Sent to woo Olivia on Orsinos behalf, Viola is stunned to find herself the object of Olivias affections and, as Olivia falls in love with Viola, so Viola falls in love with Orsino. Add Violas twin brother Sebastian into the mix and the scene is set! O time, thou must untangle this, not I. It is too hard a knot for me to untie. Romantic confusion, mistaken identity, infamous cross-gartered yellow stockings and riotous disorder abounds in Shakespeares hilarious and lyrical romantic comedy about love, its many and glorious facets, and the mess it can make of us all. As the Sun begins to set on summer solstice night, we invite you for an evening performance where environmental history meets the wonder of celestial interconnectedness. Integrating choreography inspired by Western and Caribbean flow with harmonic invocations inspired by nature,Stand of the Sun offers a new ritual amid climate chaos. This will be the first live performance of creative responses to Melting Metropolis, a University of Liverpool research project exploring the history and lived experience of urban heat islands in London, New York, Paris and Port of Spain, Trinidad.Stand of the Sun invites us to observe our cities through the solar gaze, exploring the deeply uncanny and uncertain nature of our celestial relationship today. It imagines what our closest star would say to humanity if only we could listen. How does the Sun experience our over-heating world? What does it feel like to move through our too-hot cities and heat-stroked bodies? Can we empathise with an entity so utterly different to us, yet intertwined with our fate? Travelling from outer space into the melting metropolis, stories from the hot heart of our solar system will guide us through the evening. This event takes place outdoors, so please dress accordingly. Please arrive by 8pm to take your seat. The performance will start at 8.30pm and will run to 9.45pm. Seating will be on grass and will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Please bring picnic blankets and/or cushions to make the experience as comfortable as you need. A priority area will be reserved for attendees with access needs shared with us ahead of time. About Melting Metropolis This event is developed by Melting Metropolis. Melting Metropolis is a five-year University of Liverpool environmental history research project funded by Wellcome. Melting Metropolis looks at everyday experiences of the urban heat island effect from 1945 to the present day in London, Paris, New York, and Port of Spain in Trinidad. About Orleans House Gallery Cultural Reforesting is an artist-led research programme initiated by Richmond Arts Service, responding to the ecological crisis. The programme commissions artists to respond to the big question: How can we renew our relationship with nature? Basketball team captain and resident jock, Troy, discovers that the brainy Gabriella, a girl he met singing karaoke on his ski trip, has just enrolled at East High. The couple causes an upheaval when they decide to audition for the high school musical. Although many students resent the threat posed to the "status quo," Troy and Gabriellas alliance might just open the door for others to shine as well.
