What locals say about Hadley Green

“One of the benefits of not being in central London is that we have some fantastic commons and parkland to explore; my two favourites are Hadley Green and Monken Hadley Common. Oakhill Park is also a great place to stretch your legs and even hosts a free festival in the summer.”

    Lila Dance: Fault Lines
As our planet’s voice gets louder, are we ready to listen? Fault Lines pulls at the tension in our relationship with nature. Our constant pursuit of progress increasing the speed of life has left us out of sync with the natural world. A scorched earth, from the rubble and the ruin the survivors emerge. A new world, a second chance. Within changing landscapes created from striking digital illustrations and evocative music, our survivors navigate the world, racing towards an unknown future. Fault Lines explores the environmental damage we’ve inflicted but asks what happens when we stand together with hope? What will that take? New writing by Nick Walker (award winning writer, BBC) gives voice to both the existential panic, alongside the everyday problem solving needed to live on a hotter, more crowded, and less predictable planet. With an original sound score by Dougie Evans, the projection of digital imagery by Zach Walker (MakeAmplify) and digital moving illustrations by Courtney McCarthy, the natural world enters the space to create a rich sensory world for the performers.

About Hadley Green

Hadley Green is a 10 hectare Site of Metropolitan Importance for Nature Conservation in Monken Hadley in the London Borough of Barnet. It is an area of acid grassland interspersed with trees, and has several ponds. The reserve straddles the Great North Road between Hadley Green Road and Fold Lane. It is reputedly the site of a decisive battle in the Wars of the Roses, the Battle of Barnet in 1471. The land is a traditional village common and was grazed by villagers' animals for hundreds of years until the 20th century. It was secured for the people of Hadley parish as public open space in 1818. The London Loop long distance walk goes through the reserve, and it adjoins King George's Fields.
