Plaistow (pronounced 'plah-stoh'; often mispronounced 'play-stoh' or 'pla-stoh') is a place in the London Borough of Newham in east London. Plaistow is a mainly residential area, including several council estates; the main road is the A112 - Plaistow Road, High Street, Broadway, Greengate Street and Prince Regent Lane. The historic Black Lion public house is said to have links to the 18th century highwayman Dick Turpin and was also frequented by West Ham United football (soccer) players such as Bobby Moore in the 1960s and 70s.
