"In 1673, John Aubrey claimed that Dorking was the greatest market for poultry in England and the Dorking cockerel became famous as large eating birds. The eggs were popular too and were one of the indicators that Queen Victoria was not herself should she not enjoy her Dorking eggs."

Dorking is a special place with a wealth of beautiful stunning scenery, walks and places to see from Box Hill to Denbies vineyard. We also have our own theatre, cinema, a great leisure centre, a market and lots of lovely small antique, clothing and book shops. There is something for everyone and all ages too - especially cyclists with all our surrounding hills. Everyone is friendly and we love it.
