We are delighted to invite you to join us to celebrate the achievements of Assemble, our national project tackling social isolation amongst young disabled people. Thursday 3 April from 11AM 2PM National Youth Theatres National Creative Production House for Young People 443-445 Holloway Road, London N7 6LW We've witnessed singers, dancers, poets, and comedians emerging from behind shrouds of shyness and self-doubt: it's a joy and an inspiration. We have delivered Assemble over the past 2 years with young people from nonmainstream schools in London, Greater Manchester and South Wales, in partnership with National Youth Arts Wales, and working closely with disability advocates, Gig Buddies, and London Metropolitan University. Assemble has been enabled with lead funding from the National Lottery Community Funds Bringing People Together (BPT) programme whose work increases understanding of what works in bringing people together, to bridge divides and create a sense of belonging. We are very pleased to be one of the 3 projects featured as a case study in the BPT report by their Learning Partner, the National Development Team for Inclusion. At the event, you will have the opportunity to watch short pieces created by young people to share with students and teachers from the other nonmainstream schools in their area. The sharing in London will be hosted by BLINK Dance Theatre, one of NYTs Associate Companies, and delivery of the celebration event will be supported by young people from NYTs first Inclusive Events Mentoring Collective, enabled by The Mayor of Londons New Deal for Young People that is aiming to provide 100,000 disadvantaged young Londoners with access to high quality mentoring opportunities. In London this sharing will include a networking opportunity for disabled practitioners and inclusion advocates, as well as our funders, partners and stakeholders. One of France’s most successful and long-running plays, and a winner of four Molière Awards, Farewell Mister Haffmann makes its London premiere. Set in 1942 in Nazi-occupied Paris, Jewish jeweller Joseph Haffmann faces imminent danger as Jews are being rounded up across the city for deportation. Desperate, Joseph turns to his trusted employee Pierre Vigneau for help. In a risky and unconventional deal, he transfers ownership of his jewellery shop to Pierre in exchange for being hidden from the Nazis. But the deal comes with an unexpected condition: in return for hiding him from the Nazis, Pierre requests that Joseph enter into a particular arrangement with his wife, Isabelle. This unusual request raises the stakes, as the three of them find themselves struggling with the dangers and moral complexities of their situation. A Matisse painting and an art loving Nazi officer and his flamboyant wife complicate matters further for Pierre, Isabelle and Joseph. As the marital pressures and absurd demands pile up, their deal teeters on the edge of collapse. Blending dark humour and suspense against the background of unprecedented times, this play shines a light on human resilience in the face of impossible choices. Celebrated today for his groundbreaking romantic poetry and acclaimed intellect, in 1812 Percy Shelley was seen as a dangerous radical by the establishment. Expelled from Oxford for his atheism he then scandalously eloped with Harriet Westbrook and the two of them went to Dublin to campaign for Irish independence. The play opens with Shelley fleeing Ireland with his young wife, his support for the failed rebellion making him a marked man. Their notoriety has led to constant surveillance by order of the Home Secretary and we meet them in North Devon trying to rebuild their lives and their political ambitions. Playwright Richard Bradbury explores the impact of political surveillance on relationships and what we can learn from the past now that we live in a world where we are constantly watched and recorded. Linking the past and present is an ever present theme in his work. Commissioned by the GLA for their commemoration of the two hundred year anniversary of the abolition of the transatlantic slave trade his play ‘Become a Man’ about escaped slave and abolitionist Frederick Douglass (London City Hall and the Hackney Empire) explored our contemporary response to slavery in the context of it’s history.

Tickets are valid for all screenings and performances on Saturday, 19th April. C3 Festivals is Company Threes celebration of creative projects co-created by teenagers in Islington. This brand new festival will platform the voices, art and ideas that matter most to local teenagers. Programme: 14:45 - 15:00. Films: The Forgotten Rooms What could go wrong if you open that door? A group of students find themselves in the forgotten rooms of the neglected wing of their school. Once there, they discover secrets far more chilling than they've imagined. 15:00 - 16:30. Plays: Level 7 Level 7 asks the question: what if starting secondary school was a video game? Challenges in this game include getting to the bus on time, making new friends and avoiding trouble. Players must use their courage and tenacity to compete against the school and figure out how to level up. Somebody to Someone Some moments change everything. Others barely leave a trace. Somebody to Someone is a play about connections, those we make, those we miss, and those that slip through our fingers. So, what if the moments we almost had are the ones that shape us the most? All Theatre performances at C3 Festivals are relaxed. Company Three are a leading force for change for teenagers in our local community.
