Bluewater is like shopping at Westfield but it's outside of London and the parking is free!! And the variety of places to eat is awesome. Five Guys is the place to go for the best burgers!

Such a well presented golf course with great views, you would never believe you were in London.

Severndroog Castle tea rooms do super food and jolly posh teas in the considerately renovated folly albeit with sometimes random opening hours, check the website! Oxleas Wood Cafe is always open and always makes for a pleasant break with plenty of space for the kids to play and dogs to be run.

A hidden gem in Forest Gate Village overlooking Wanstead Flats, this pub has recently undergone a full refurbishment and has a huge beer garden at the rear.

Chinese takeaway if you're in between the Forest Gate and Upton Park Area. All fresh ingredients, amazing portions and cooked with loads of colour and flavour!

Not somewhere accessible to every local, but worth a mention all the same. The pool here is set within a converted church and is one of the most relaxing places to come and reflect upon your day...or just reflect on life.

The most fun you can have with a pair of trainers, never mind the mad dashing through colour stations where you're attacked with sachets of dye. There's also a music festival of colour! Run or Dye takes place not only in London, but all around the country and world.
