For those considering driving, please allow an extra 30-60 minutes on top of your estimated arrival time. Oxford's roads can be congested, and parking is challenging. Utilizing the 'park and ride' services on the outskirts of the city is advised for a more convenient approach to reaching the city centre. Please arrive 5 minutes early at our meeting point. Late arrivals of more than 5 minutes may forfeit their booking, as it disrupts the guide and other guests. Our tours pride themselves on smaller group sizes for a more personal experience, typically ranging from 2-4 persons, with a maximum of 15. This ensures a quality experience, reflected in our marginally higher ticket price compared to competitors. The tour is suitable for all physical fitness levels, making it a great option for everyone to enjoy. Please be aware that access to university colleges cannot be guaranteed, especially during graduation dates, the Christmas holiday period, and university open days. We strive to secure entry into at least one or two colleges and will advise of any adjustments to the tour start time to accommodate restricted opening times during these periods. Fees) Ellen Arkbro (1990, Stockholm) is a composer and sound-artist primarily working with intervallic harmony in just intonation. Her work includes long duration compositions for ensembles as well as electronic sound environments in the form of installations and live-performances, employing both traditional acoustic instruments as well as digital algorithmic sound synthesis. Most recently, Arkbro released for organ and brass on Subtext Recordings, a set of recordings of her compositions in just intonation for renaissance organ, horn, trombone and microtonal tuba. Shakespeare in the Squares - The Taming of the Shrew
Shakespeare in the Squares will be back this summer to celebrate their eighth anniversary with a new production of The Taming of the Shrew, a battle of wits, wills and wild romance complete with toe-tapping pop classics. Shakespeare in the Squares is a not-for-profit touring theatre company that stages a new Shakespeare play across London for one night in each venue every summer. This years programme features 34 performances across 28 beautiful London locations. The tour kicks off on Wednesday 4th June in Leinster Square, W2, and concludes over five weeks later in The Actors Church Garden, WC2. Press night is scheduled for Wednesday 11th June at Cleveland Square, W2. Join us in the idyllic settings of St Paul Church gardens for an evening of the finest fiddle tunes with acclaimed and highly sought after musician Owen Spafford Owen Spafford is a fiddle player and composer from Leeds who has performed for the leaders of the commonwealth states, toured with Giffords Circus and has received a scholarship to study composition at the Royal Academy of Music. His installation Welcome Here, Kind Stranger has been performed at the Rainy Days festival in Luxembourg alongside Sam Amidon, Brighde Chaimbeul and Annabelle Blott and at SeptemberMe festival in the Netherlands. Owen is also an All-Britain Fiddle Champion in the Fleadh Cheoil na Breataine and BBC Young Composer Competition nominee. Equally at home in a traditional session as he is in a free improvisation workshop, Spafford's understanding of the oral tradition and love for vernacular music from around the world enables an inventive and thoughtful musical style. In 2022 Owen released a debut album with guitarist Louis Campbell which Martin Hayes described as a beautiful, moody and tasteful recording that defies classification. The arrangements and playing are truly subtle and the sounds are pristine. The duo allows Owen and Louis to distill their love of traditional and experimental music into powerful, intricate and intimate music. Their music manages to orbit many different sound-worlds from traditional English dance tune to chamber music and post-rock with influences ranging from field recordings, to The Gloaming, Bill Frisell, Ravel and Godspeed You!
