“The Swan and the Anglers pubs by the river”

“It was a real shock to move to live within the M25 having spent most of my life in counties further north. Luckily in Walton on Thames I find it has the feeling of a small town with very good facilities including a shopping complex which was completed just before my arrival in 2008. There are also 2 stations in the vicinity.”

Walton-on-Thames is a town in the Elmbridge borough of Surrey. Walton is located 15.3 miles (24.6 km) south west of Charing Cross and is between the towns of Weybridge and Molesey. The River Thames bounds the town to the north. The original village lies in the north, while later development took place in the south, closer to the railway station. A railway journey to London Waterloo takes around 25 minutes. The town is situated between Sunbury Lock and Shepperton Lock on a stretch of the River Thames that includes a loop around Desborough Island. There are a number of bridges at Walton crossing the River Thames. Prior to the first bridge there was a ferry which goes back to at least the 15th century.
