One of the brightest new names to have emerged full-grown on the country's folk scene in recent years FOLK RADIO UK Odette Michell is an award-winning British singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist with a rich foothold in the folk tradition. Odette Michell will be releasing her much-anticipated second studio album The Queen of the Lowlands with a very special limited capacity album launch at Heath Street Baptist Church, London on the 11th June. The album was recorded and produced by four-times BBC Radio 2 Folk Award Nominee Stu Hanna (Megson), and features some extremely special guests, including duets with Ninebarrow, Calum Gilligan and Daria Kulesh; as well as notable musical contributions from Chris Leslie (Fairport/Albion Band); Phil Beer (Show of Hands); Lukas Drinkwater, and Vicki Swan. Odette will be accompanied at the launch event by multi-instrumentalists Phil Beer (Show of Hands) on fiddle and Stu Hanna on mandolin and backing vocals. The Queen of the Lowlands is an entirely self-penned album that expertly weaves tales of both the personal and the historical. Captivated by the true story of the Queen of the Netherlands the hero ship that rescued and repatriated many thousands of soldiers during WW1; Odette delves into both our collective history and her own personal history to bring forth an album that truly captivates, informs and enchants in equal measure. Timeless Classics and New Beginnings
Based in Gothenburg, Sweden, international duo Dialogue of Minds visits Burgh House in their second London tour. Praised for their great sensitivity and technical virtuosity, British-Australian clarinetist Kristina Newton and Swedish pianist Joel Slott come together in an evening where timeless masters of classical music meet with exciting new voices of today. The program commences with the Australian Margaret Sutherlands lyrical Clarinet Sonata. The energetic high points of Finzis Five Bagatelles and the romantic Premiere Rhapsodie by Debussy will both draw parallels with the alternatingly vivid and melodic Suite Fantastique by Swedish composer and professor Rolf Martinsson. Dialogue of Minds is also proud to present their newly commissioned work by celebrated Swedish composer Nicole Rubinova. The program will conclude with a joyful a virtuosic arrangement of Mozart's Eine kleine Nachtmusik. This performance will take place at the stunning Burgh House; a Grade I listed Queen Anne house built in 1704 and situated in the heart of Hamstead Village. Posie 'Po' Marshall is a fun loving, slightly anxious, tag along who looks after her family and friends despite them not always reciprocating. Her brother Jason has a chequered past which has given the family a reputation.
