Seven Kings Area Guide

A year in the life of Valentines Park, captured by local artist Andrew Wright.  This intriguing display features a kaleidoscopic image for each day, Creepy CrawLies emerging from items gathered and a trio of trees.  Using a variety of traditional and contemporary image making processes, the artist entices and challenges the viewer to observe, explore and decipher his various creations - but be aware, all is not as it might seem at first glance.

Participants will learn how to create a one hour long transportive soundscape from music, poetry, field recordings, effects and more - using whatever sounds they like to transport the listener to their own magical sonic world. They will consider the message they want to get across - whether their aim is relaxing, educating or discombobulating their audience - and will learn audio editing skills in Reaper, from the basics of cutting, levels and fades to more advanced aspects of sound design, including reverb and mixing. This workshop is delivered by Kit Callin - they have delivered workshops for audio editing and music radio production for places like Saffron and Good Growth Hub, and have run workshops with young people for Space Kids CIC. Kit also runs the monthly radio residency Mooar Residency on Resonance FM which supports individuals to create their own hour long radio show of whatever they like. These workshops are tailored for young people ages 16 to 25 years who are starting their careers. However we still welcome participants 25+.

Pete's Goodtime Jazz Band An afternoon of fun toe-tapping jazz, blues and swing. Think of the great era of the 1920s and 1930s and of Louis Armstrong, Fats Waller and Benny Goodman. Add a dash of blues, New Orleans and British trad and you’re sure to have a great time. The musicians are of the finest calibre. They have travelled the globe, performing at festivals, major concert halls and jazz clubs worldwide. Between them, they have played hundreds of performances in the bands of Chris Barber, Kenny Ball, Acker Bilk and many more. Pop in after your Sunday lunch, grab a drink from the bar, sit back and enjoy!

Learn how to drive a powerboat safely. This two-day entry-level course provides the skills and background knowledge needed to drive a powerboat. The course covers launching and recovery, boat handling, securing to a buoy, anchoring, leaving and coming alongside, man overboard recovery, slow speed close-quarters maneuvering, an introduction to driving at planning speed and collision regulations. You are required to bring along a passport style photo, should you pass the syllabus. The start powerboating handbook is included in the course price as is the certificate however this is not guaranteed unless the course is successfully completed. Equipment hire is also included in the price. Duration: two-day course Time: 09:30 to 16:30 each day with a break for lunch. Pre-course requirements: No prior experience or knowledge is required. Minimum age of 16.
