"In the mid-1700s, Horace Walpole bought Strawberry Hill House and transformed it into a gothic villa. It was here that he was inspired to write what is considered the first ever gothic novel, 'Castle of Otranto'."

Marble Hill Park is a great place for walking my dog or having a picnic overlooking the river.

Oliver Pym

There are some fantastic views along The Embankment in Twickenham looking towards Eel Pie Island!

What locals say about TW1

  1. I love The Crown pub next to Marble Hill Park for a Sunday Roast.

  2. It may be small but St Margarets rocks. Great cafes and independent shops - and within walking distance of Richmond.

  3. St Margarets has a pretty village feel within walking distance of Richmond and the River Thames. There is a strong community with street parties and fairs and lots of great cafes and restaurants. Marble Hill Park is a beautiful park right on the banks of the river Thames and next to the foot ferry which can take you over to Ham House and Petersham.
