With London property prices varying dramatically throughout the zones, we've had a look at our properties for sale in Zone 1 compared to the rest of the capital.

We all know that living in central London comes with a premium price tag and living further out gets you more space for your money.

But different buyers value different things, and while some would rather pay more for the privilege of being able to walk to work and be within easy reach of some of the capital’s top attractions, for others securing extra space is key.

With this in mind, we’ve had a look at our books to find out what you can get in Zone 1 compared to the rest of London with different budgets at your disposal.

Drag the slider back and forth to see either of the two properties shown.

£500,000

Property Property
£500,000: Zone 1 vs Zone 2

Zone 1: Old Brompton Road, South Kensington, SW7

This studio stylishly utilises the space available, with a striking spiral staircase separating the kitchen/reception from the sleeping area.

Situated opposite South Kensington station, if you are travelling to different parts of central London for work, this is the ideal spot for you. During downtime, take advantage of the fact that you can walk to some of London’s top attractions – namely the Victoria and Albert, Natural History and Science museums.

Zone 2: Clissold Crescent, Stoke Newington, N16

This lovely two bedroom apartment in Stoke Newington is a great example of what you can expect to achieve for £500,000 outside of zone one. The added bonus with this property is that it is still only in Zone 2, but comes with the extra space that you would struggle to find in central London.

The flat is situated within a Victorian terrace, on a pleasant residential street, with a large open plan kitchen/reception room that benefits from four large windows, wooden flooring and modern built-in units. Nearby cafes, Clissold Park and Dalston High Street mean there is plenty to do in the local area, without having to travel too far.

£750,000

Property Property
£750,000: Zone 1 vs Zone 5

Zone 1: Monck Street, Westminster, SW1P

Set in a contemporary apartment block in Westminster, this one bedroom flat features a modern kitchen and bathroom, plus ample storage throughout. The main highlight of this property has to be the private communal gym, swimming pool and Jacuzzi that is for residents’ use only.

With the added bonus of lift access, on-site concierge and not forgetting its close proximity to some of London’s top locations, we can see how this one bed has achieved its premium price tag.

Zone 5: Wellington Road, Bush Hill Park, EN1

With both off-street parking at the front of the property and a private garden to the rear, you would certainly be hard pressed to find something like this three bedroom semi-detached in a zone closer to central London.

With a large open-plan living space, and modern kitchen, this property works perfectly for families. The nearby Bush Hill Park Overground station allows for easy access to Liverpool Street for those needing to commute to the City.

£1,000,000

Property Property
£1,000,000: Zone 1 vs Zone 2

Zone 1: Nevern Square, Earls Court, SW5

For £1 million in Earls Court, you can expect to find something along the lines of this one bedroom apartment situated in a London stock brick townhouse.

With its quirky layout, you have the added bonus of a mezzanine floor which the current occupier uses as a study, wardrobe and spare sleep space (although not technically classed as a bedroom, due to its head height). This apartment has plenty of kitchen storage and a stunning terrace overlooking the accessible garden square.

Zone 2: Ivydale Road, Nunhead, SE15

This lovely three bedroom house in Nunhead is the epitome of a great family home. With plenty of space, natural light and original fireplaces throughout, this property has retained all of the charm of its Victorian heritage.

With its open-plan kitchen, two reception rooms, separate diner and private garden with a storeroom, you can guarantee that there is space for all the family. And let’s not forget the assortment of local parks and cool cafes that Nunhead, Peckham and New Cross offer.

£1,500,000

Property Property
£1,500,000: Zone 1 vs Zone 4

Zone 1: Palace Court, Notting Hill Gate, W2

Set in a townhouse on the sought-after Palace Court, this £1.5 million two bedroom apartment offers stylish living in a prime location. With an open plan reception room, two large bedrooms, a playroom and plenty of primary schools nearby, this one is perfect for a small family with a higher budget.

Situated just round the corner from Kensington Palace and with transport links including Bayswater (District and Circle lines), Queensway (Central line) and Paddington station only a walk away, there would certainly be plenty to keep the little ones busy of a weekend.

Zone 4: Crooked Usage, Finchley, N3

To the north of London, you will find that £1.5 million will get you a family home with not one, not two, but three floors, and with a garden that extends to 60 ft to boot.

This five bedroom house in Finchley has two reception rooms, a separate kitchen and dining room and an en suite master bedroom on its own floor. Despite being as close to the M25 as central London, with the Northern Line (Finchley Central and Hendon Central) close by, commuting to Zone 1 is no problem.

£2,000,000

Property Property
£2,000,000: Zone 1 vs Zone 3

Zone 1: Emperors Gate, South Kensington, SW7

As an apartment that lives up to its name, this luxurious one bedroom home in South Kensington boasts the original features of a classic period building, including high ceilings, tall windows and detailed, decorative cornicing.

If being in the heart of the museum quarter is your thing, and you have £2 million to spend, then perhaps this is the dream home for you.

Zone 3: Whitcombe Mews, Kew, TW9

Idyllically situated right next to the river in the desirable development that is Kew Riverside, this fabulous five bedroom house has been recently refurbished throughout and has a beautiful garden with decking to the rear.

It’s unsurprising that a hefty £2 million can get you a lot more space for your money than in South Kensington, but with this beautiful location you sure can have the best of both worlds. Arranged over three floors, this property has five spacious bedrooms, a huge open-plan kitchen with bi-folding doors and even a private garage with a studio above. And with £50 to spare, you could even treat yourself to a bottle of sparkling to celebrate!

£2,500,000

Property Property
£2,500,000: Zone 1 vs Zone 4

Zone 1: Portman Square, Marylebone, W1H

With a budget of £2.5 million, it’s pretty safe to say that whether in Zone 1 or 4, you are going to have a pretty swanky pad. This three bedroom apartment in Marylebone is a perfect example of what this budget could get you in central London.

With expansive rooms and a premium finish throughout, the modern development in which this stunning apartment is situated has the added bonus of a porter and lift access and let’s not forget the garden square over the road and Hyde Park and Regent’s Park just around the corner.

Zone 4: Henley Drive, Coombe, KT2

Situated deep in the heart of southwest London, this five bedroom, three-storey stylish house is what you can expect to achieve when spending £2.5 million in outer London.

Set within a private cul-de-sac, this gated home boasts spacious accommodation, with a large reception room, open-plan kitchen with bi-folding doors leading onto a 120 ft garden and a fantastic en suite and walk-in wardrobe off the master bedroom.

Direct travel links such as the National Rail to Clapham Junction and Waterloo make this property easily accessible for those who work in central London, with the added bonus of the greenery that comes in the south-west.
