Richard is on a mission to rescue his best friend, Charlie, from the post-divorce doldrums, and with a big wedding just days away, he insists Charlie needs a date. Richard's solution? Secretly sign Charlie up to a dating site. Charlie reluctantly agrees to meet Adle, a dazzling and mysterious Frenchwoman, and for the occasion puts on his unworn Humphrey Bogart fedora. But Richard doesnt trust Charlie not to ruin the whole thing, so he follows himdisguised with a hat of his own, of course! What Richard doesnt plan for is his own date, Calista, showing up early. Not only is she at the wrong bar, but she also has a suspiciously keen interest in Charlie and Adle. And then theres the waitress, who seems determined to get in on the action. With cocktails, comedy and confusion galore, A Beautiful Friendship is a laugh-out-loud romantic escapade. Through a series of disguises, mistaken identities and simply pretending to be somebody youre not, the play asks: how do you actually be yourself? And in this day and age, can love still be foundor at least stumbled into? Will Charlie and Adle sail off into the sunset together? Can Richard keep Calista away from temptation? Dvorak Stabat Mater Among all settings of the Stabat Mater over the centuries, this one by Dvok holds a special place as the most symphonic. Based on a Latin poem that meditates on the Virgin Marys grief at the death of her son, Jesus; it was written only six months after Dvork lost his own son. Dvok had a close and productive relationship with his faith in God. His Stabat Mater premiered in Prague on December 23rd, 1880 and soon after in England. He went on to compose several significant works for English ensembles, such as the 7th Symphony for the Philharmonic Society (1885), St Ludmilla for Leeds (1886), Requiem Mass for Birmingham (1890). Faith in God was for Dvork the cornerstone on which he built his own life and work. His son, Otakar noted that this fathers "God was not the God of Vengeance but the Creator, who sanctifies the journey through the valley of death through his infinite love. And this is fully reflected in this heart-breakingly powerful music. Dvoks Romance for Violin and Orchestra is a rich and rewarding single-movement work, which was premiered in 1877, three years before his Stabat Mater. It will be performed in this concert by the violinist, Christian Halstead. Will James is an exciting talent on the UK music scene effortlessly melting blues, jazz, soul music into an innovative sound capturing the attention of legendary producer John Wooler ( 5x Grammy Winner, John Lee Hooker, Van Morrison) He is creating inspired collections of modern Blues Blues in Britain Magazine Will created quite a stur in the scene since the release of his first record The Age Of Fear back in 2020. Shortly after its release he was invited by John Wooler to record his next record Sundancer over in North Hollywood California. This was quite an experience for Will who got to play with some of LAs finest session players, who had played with the likes of Aretha Franklin, Bonnie Raitt and Elton John to name a few. That record Sundancer went to No.1 on the USA Soul Blues Album Charts 2023 and received great critical acclaim by many blues magazines. His music is rooted in blues but pulls many melodic elements from Jazz and Soul music which is evident in Love Lullaby showing a silky smooth vocal and equally as smooth intricate guitar riffs which serve this beautiful song perfectly. Recently performed live on Memphis Blues Radio USA too over 100,000 listeners. It is rare sight to find an artist who is a true triple threat, a brilliant guitar player, a vocal tone that has been praised as timeless and wonderful emotive songs, he really is a true UK treasure. On stage ,Wills passionate live performances are a throwback to the greats of old where everything is laid bare. He and his Quartet have gained a stellar live reputation on the London scene to also supporting Razorlight & Dire Straits (John illsley) back in 2023. he band consist of some of Londons finest Jazz musicians Dan Mcconkey on saxophone, Joshua Walker Martin on Drums and Theo Malka Wishart on bass. All of which who feature heavily on Wills 3rd album due for release later in the year and a single due out in March 2025.
