Breakfast with a view
Forget breakfast in bed. Get out the house early doors and indulge yourselves at one of London’s early-morning breakfast spots.
Darwin at the Sky Garden, Duck and Waffle in Heron Tower near London Liverpool Street, and Aqua Shard and Gong in the Shard all offer breakfast with a view over London.
Kew Gardens
This Valentine’s Day, head to Kew Gardens for their orchid festival.
In celebration of Indian culture, huge floral displays inside the conservatory depict exotic animals, as well as a traditional Indian marriage swing, and a pond display that signifies the marrying of traditional and modern culture.
From 4 February – 5 March and entry is included with a general admission ticket to the gardens.
Cupid's Capsule at the London Eye
The best place to propose and the ultimate Valentine’s Day experience, why not book a Cupid’s Capsule on the London Eye.
Take the 30 minute rotation in private while indulging in champagne and truffles and impress your significant other with beautiful views of central London.
Tickets available on the evening of 14 February from 5.00pm
'Overpoured' Sunday Cruise
If you’re looking for something alternative to do this Valentine’s Day in London, then a ‘Overpoured’ Sunday cruise on the Alfred Le Roy will be right up your street – or river, in this case. Departing from Hackney Wick and taking a leisurely two-hour cruise along the River Lea’s waterways, you can purchase drinks and brunch on board.
Or splash out on bottomless bloody marys, prosecco and mimosas for £25.
Sunday 12 and 19 February. Tickets from £10.00.
The Royal Parks of London
If you’d rather be firmly on the ground this Valentine’s Day – and you’re on a tight budget – then take advantage of London’s beautiful Royal Parks.
From Hyde Park, Green Park and St James’s Park in central London, to Richmond Park, Bushy Park and Greenwich Park further out, what better way to enjoy London’s green spaces than a leisurely stroll on Valentine’s Day.
Why not check out a local coffee shop afterwards, such as Richmond Hill Bakery in Richmond, The Phesantry Café in Bushy Park or The Coffee Jar in Camden Town.
Afternoon tea at the Queen’s House
What better way to enjoy the surroundings of Greenwich’s beautiful royal residence than sipping Prosecco and eating mini sandwiches?
'Making Love in the Queen’s House' takes ticket holders on a guided tour of the house while telling love stories about its former royal household, all followed by a luxury afternoon tea.
14 Feburary from 2.00-4.30pm. Tickets £25 each.
Valentine’s Dog Walk on Hampstead Heath
This Sunday our favourite animal charity All Dogs Matter are hosting their 7th Valentine’s Day dog walk, where they will be giving out goody bags for the most loved up owner and their canine companion.
Afterwards there will be a chance to meet some of the charity’s dogs who are looking for a forever home. Could you fall in love this Valentine's Day?
Sunday 12 February. Entry is £5 and the walk will start around 11.00am.
London's museums and galleries
If you’re strapped for cash this Valentine’s Day, why not take your date to one of London’s fantastic (and most importantly, free) cultural hotspots.
Walk through the romantic halls of the V&A, browse art through the ages at the National Portrait Gallery, or pop into The Photographers’ Gallery for an alternative art experience.
Staying in
There’s a lot to be said for staying in on Valentine’s Day.
While other couples are spending hundreds of pounds on fancy meals and paying over the odds for an Uber ride home, you could spend a fraction ordering your favourite food to enjoy on the comfort of your sofa.
Deliveroo, Just Eat or the more upmarket fresh food delivery companies like Gousto and HelloFresh can fill you up without emptying your wallet.
