Come Monday 27 June, Wimbledon’s charming village and town centre will be met by crowds of excited tennis fans hoping to catch a glimpse of Djokovic’s world-winning backhand, or Andy Murray’s perfectly executed groundstroke.
But you’ll need to keep your energy levels up to enjoy all this tennis action. So why not take time to sit back, relax and enjoy the best places to eat and drink in Wimbledon.
The Dog & Fox
It’s game, set and match for this Wimbledon Village institution, which is a firm favourite come rain or shine with Wimbledon’s locals. And while the games are taking place, there’s always a lively crowd cheering on the players from in front of live screens. They’re even installing temporary bars outside in anticipation of lots of very thirsty punters, from which I’m sure they’ll be serving a Pimm’s or two. You can reserve a table for brunch if you’re in need of some pre-tennis avocado on toast, or just turn up for dinner in the evening once the action is over.

The Alexandra
Just a stone's throw from Wimbledon Station, The Alexandra promises a proper English pub experience. As well as a dedicated sports bar screening the tennis, head upstairs to The Loft, where there’s a separate bar, restaurant and terrace, which is the perfect spot to enjoy a cold one when the sun is out. In the main restaurant, they’ll also be serving their food menu of British pub classics, alongside sharing boards and Sunday roasts with all the trimmings.

Hemingways
If you’re looking for some alcoholic refreshment at the end of the day – or perhaps even in the middle – then we highly recommend Hemingways and their delicious cocktail offerings. From classics such as margaritas and cosmopolitans, to the more curious Yellah Bandit made with yellow plums, there’s sure to be a concoction to quench the thirst of every spectator at Wimbledon. And if you’ve worked up an appetite from all that sporting excitement, their small but perfected menu of nibbles, sharing platters and pizzas is ideal for satisfying your post-match hunger.

San Lorenzo
If you’re lucky enough, you may be able to catch a glimpse of your favourite tennis stars in this traditional family-run Italian, since it boasts having fed almost all of Wimbledon’s top superstars since its opening in 1969. Popular with the players and their companions, all of the restaurant’s authentic dishes are prepared by hand – including the breads and pastas that are made from scratch – making for a genuine Italian feast.

Thai Tho
Bringing traditional south-east Asian flavours to Wimbledon Village, this Thai restaurant is lucky enough to have been graced by some of the biggest names in tennis, including Maria Sharapova. Their reasonably priced menu is made up of lots of authentic Thai dishes, but the coconut curries and seafood starters are a must if you’re looking for a genuine dining experience. But if you don't fancy Thai this tournament, make sure that you at least check out their Wimbledon themed window display.

The White Onion
For those of you looking for a finer dining experience this year, lunch or dinner at The White Onion is the ideal place for a pre or post-match treat. On the small but perfected menu of modern European dishes, there are offerings such as wagyu beef for starters and The White Onion tennis ball with fresh strawberries and cream for dessert. Afterwards, why not take a stroll through Wimbledon Common to walk off all that delicious food, since it’s only around the corner. Reservations for their lunch and dinner sittings are highly recommended.

Cau
If all you’ve been eating throughout the day is strawberries and cream and sipping on champers, then you’ll be wanting something more substantial for dinner. So after the day’s matches are over, why not head straight to Cau in Wimbledon Village to fill up on Argentinian steaks and hearty burgers. Their cleverly designed indoor ‘terrace’ is ready and waiting for the herds of hungry spectators.
