High quality photography is crucial for presenting a property in its best light. Our in-house team of property photographers are the best in the business. We thought we'd celebrate their craft with a competition for the best property image of 2018. They sent us their favourites, we chose a shortlist of twelve, then we let our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram fans decide the winner.
12. Lofty heights
Starting with number 12, this composition by Yaalini Ilankumuran conveys a wide variety of interior elements alongside the panoramic view of the City through the windows. This lofty property in the Centre Point tower is here being used a showroom for interior design firm Ivar London, providing plenty of luxurious decor highlights for the photography.
11. River terrace
This spectacular balcony shot from a North Greenwich apartment was taken by Posy Mudie. The Isle of Dogs and Canary Wharf can be seen in the distance from this stunning covered seating area.
10. Pimlico pad
This moody shot by Aaron Miller captures the beauty of London by night through the dual-aspect glazing of this stylish Pimlico apartment. The classic white Vitra Panton chairs add a striking sculptural accent to the centre of the image – check out our full listing for more stunning shots.
9. A grand design
Another atmospheric night shot by Aaron Miller, this water tower conversion in Elephant & Castle was featured on Grand Designs and provides a stunning subject for this capture. Showing the property and how it interacts with the surrounding buildings is essential to give buyers a better idea of how it is situated. Our photographers will sometimes return to a property at different times of the day to capture the most striking images possible.

8. En suite treat
This Fulham en suite bathroom provided interesting design details for Melissa Collins to shoot. We liked the presentation of the two conjoined rooms and how the one image showed so much about this gorgeous bedroom layout.
7. Posh pool
This is the stunning swimming pool at the Star & Garter development in Richmond. Benjamin Roe made the most of the period details and exaggerated perspective of the room in this fascinating image.
6. Vauxhall views
Simon Foss-Smith composed this image to combine the striking elements of the spiral staircase and panoramic views from the floor-to-ceiling glazing. This luxurious apartment in Vauxhall blends dark wood, cream marble and fresh white surfaces to maximum effect.
5. A grand vista
Into the top five now with another entry from Simon Foss-Smith. Big Ben and the Palace of Westminster past a baby grand piano in the foreground is a view not to be missed.
4. Homely Hackney
Stoke Newington is home to some of the capital's most beautifully-styled properties. This lounge shot by Amy Barclay attracted lots of attention with its symmetrical composition and carefully balanced interior features.
3. Carnival colour
Notting Hill is another hotspot for creative and colourful interiors. Kimberley Miller shot the lounge of this beautiful house, balancing the dramatic planting, mid-century furniture and other statement pieces to capture the feel of this bright and homely space.
Inside out
In at number two, and another chic interior in Notting Hill, this time shot by Benjamin Roe. This stunning apartment lounge features full-width bi-folding doors out onto the minimal but appealing garden and dining terrace beyond.
Barnes stormer
This beautiful shot by Laura Downham captured the imaginations of our social audience. The dramatic composition includes a fascinating selection of carefully-combined interior elements, including striking yellow velvet seating and other statement furnishings. The view of the immaculate garden beyond the floor-to-ceiling windows is the icing on the cake!
